Biography

Dr. Amila De Silva was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1978 and had his primary education at Carey College, Colombo and secondary education from the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayawardenepura, Sri Lanka.He obtained his postgraduate education from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He also obtained the membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, United Kingdom.

Dr. Amila De Silva is a conscientious, reliable and hardworking person and pays meticulous attention to detail and possesses excellent interpersonal and time management skills. He is a self-motivated individual capable of a high degree of goal setting and project management.

Dr. Amila De Silva is trained in Paediatric Surgery, both in Sri Lanka and in England under the supervision of many eminent Paediatric surgeons and Paediatric Urologists. In 2015, he served in the capacity of a locum Consultant Paediatric Urologist at the Department of Paediatric Urology, Royal Manchester Children Hospital, United Kingdom. This is one of the largest departments of Paediatric Urology in the United Kingdom and indeed in Europe and one of only two designated centres in United Kingdom that manage children with urinary exstrophy. He obtained his board certification in Paediatric Surgery from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2015 and is now permanently working as a board certified Consultant Paediatric Surgeon in the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka and also working as an instructor and resource person for the Advanced Paediatric Life Support group in Sri Lanka.

He has been married to Dr. Nelum Atapattu in 2008 and now they have two children. Elder son, Sithun De Silva was born in 2011 and his younger daughter, Senudi De Silva was born in 2016. In his leisure time, he loves to play cricket and to listen music.
